Bama before the Alabama Gang
I remember going to races in Alabama in the mid 50's to 60 before the invasion of the Alabama Gang. My father raced the dirt at Birmingham Fairgrounds 1955 -1957. Also pavement at Dixie Speedway in Midfield and Montgomery. I grew up in stockcar country, but first love was the sprintcars that came to the fair and were in the Championship Trail segement of Dad's Hot Rod Magazines. Now I just about told you all my age! Currently part owner in sprintcar team with my brother. Love all racing but open wheel is my passion and sprintcars are my addiction!

Hey Olen, I seem to have trouble getting anything done on this site, but want to say thanks for all your great posts, and esp enjoyed your Sayre info...that is one very rough and tumble place to race, I tried it one time and never went back...
