Default 1960's midget

A couple of weeks ago there was a small vintage midget display at the Wentworth Park Dog Track, very close to the Sydney CBD.
Midgets started racing there in the 1920s and finished about a decade later. The track is visible in the background of these pics. It's a greyhound racing facility these days. I live 5 mins from the track.
Forum member Chris McGee will recall this car from the 1960s, that was on display.

Are those antique pedal cars that have been refurbished?

Wow Bob,

Nice lineup with some good looking midgets. I've seen a fair number of pedal cars but never midget replicas. Very unusual. Thanks for sharing.

That is really a nice looking car. George did a great job of restoring it. The last time I saw it Yellow was when it was on fire in the pit corner with the poor crash crew guys heroically trying to put it out after learning that nearly all their fire extinguishers were empty. Peter came up to the World Finals at Pomona last weekend and still has trouble with his burns.
Chris.
I think there's a picture of the fire on the sign displayed with the car.

Here are some pictures of Peter's car when his fuel tank was ruptured and the resulting inferno.

The crash crew tried everything to put the fire out, and a quick thinking Jack Porritt hooked a chain to the grader and pulled the car to safety.

Shortly after a very generous Johnny Peers offered Peter his Datsun powered car to run as it took Peter months to completely rebuild 16. Johnny felt sorry for Peter and admired his work ethic.

Chris,
Here's the #16 midget during a run in Sydney, at Bankstown, in April this year.
I was there that day.
