Ted Horn was a remarkable driver that should have won the Indy 500, but he did not. He did win the AAA National Championship in 1946-47-48. Ted Horn would drive a midget race car, he said he didn't like them.

Ted Horn’s Indy record . . .
1934 #53 DNQ
1935 #43 - S 26 - F 16
After 1935, Ted would finish 4th or better, but not 1st.
1936 #22 - S 11 - F 2
1937 #3 - S 32 - F 3
1938 #2 - S 6 - F 4
1939 #4 - S 4 - F 4
1940 #3 - S 4 - F 4
1941 #4 - S 28 - F 3
1946 #29 - S 7 - F 3
1947 #1 - S 1 - F 3
1948 #1 - S 5 - F 4

Ted horn died in fatal crash racing at DuQuion, Illinois in fall of 1948.

"Stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing" ~ Sid Collins

LAKESIDE - Late at night over by the old speedway, you can hear the ghosts - The barking and crackling of the "Flathead Fords", the zing of the "Chevy Stove Bolt's", The midget cars rumbling "KK-Offy's", the snarling "Ford V8-60's". Listen and faintly hear the announcer say, "Ladies and gentlemen, the line up for the main event," the place would erupt with the echoing of cheers and boo's mixed . . . Remember?
